 HomeStudy Courses (Non-Traditional CE Credits)

Each of our respiratory HomeStudy courses has been approved by the AARC for Category 1 “Non-traditional” Continuing Education (CE) credit.

To earn credits for the RRT Clinical Simulation HomeStudy, you will be required to complete 16 simulations and provide us your scores showing that you passed at least 9 Information Gathering scoring thresholds and at least 8 Decision Making scoring thresholds. For more information, refer to the "Thank You" sheet included in your HomeStudy materials.

For all other HomeStudies, you will be required to take a short proficiency exam (usually around 25 questions) that we provide to you. To obtain the proficiency examination, please contact our office once you have completed the HomeStudy. A certificate showing that you have earned the HomeStudy credits will be mailed to you once you receive a score of 72% or better on the proficiency exam.

Since AARC approval is granted only one calendar year at a time, the CE Profiency Exam must be taken and returned to our office by the end of the calendar year in which you receive your HomeStudy in order to guarantee that you will receive a certificate.

Our HomeStudies have been approved for the following credits:

HomeStudy Course
Category 1 Non-traditional
CE credits
 Certified Asthma Educator18
 Comprehensive Respiratory Therapy (CRT/Written Registry)20
 RRT Clinical Simulation16
 Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist19.5

 Certified Cardiographic Technician12

Please note: Category 1 "Non-traditional" CE credits are not accepted in every state. The term "Non-traditional" signifies credits earned outside a typical classroom setting, such as self-study courses. Some states only allow a certain number of credits to be earned outside the classroom. You will need to check with your state licensing board to verify acceptance of or limitations to the use of “Non-traditional” hours toward your CE requirements.
