| Seminars |
•
When is the next Seminar?
Since all of our seminars are scheduled by request, additional seminars are added to our schedule just as soon as another group invites us to conduct one.
Since we don't select when or where the seminars are going to be held, our schedule continually changes as we receive requests.
Our website is always up-to-date and lists all the seminars that we are currently aware of. Please see our Seminar Schedules page
to view the current list, or call our office at (800) 445-0860 for more information. As an alternative, you can join our Email Club.
By doing so, we will email you as new seminars are added to our schedule.
If there are no seminars scheduled in your area and you don't want to wait for someone else to set one up, you may want to consider organizing a seminar at
your own location. See how easy it is to host your own seminar.
Of course, our comprehensive self-study courses are always available if you are unable to attend a seminar.
|
| •
Can I get the books before the seminar?
Yes!
If you have paid for the seminar in full, you can request that we send the books directly to you for a fee of $25 to cover the cost of shipping and handling.
|
| •
How much does it cost to repeat the seminar?
You may repeat any of our seminars for about half the normal rate, when you bring your books with you. If you want to repeat the seminar and receive new books,
it’s only slightly more. Please be aware that our online system will not be able to determine if you are repeating a seminar, so you will need to register
for the seminar by calling us at 800-445-0860 so that we can give you the discount.
|
| •
If I have the HomeStudy, can I get a discount to attend the seminar?
Yes!
Provided that you purchased the HomeStudy directly from us, you can attend a seminar for about half the normal rate when you bring your books with you.
If you have an older version of the HomeStudy and need our latest bookset, the cost is only slightly more. To receive the discount, we must have
a record of your HomeStudy purchase in our files. (Sorry, we do not offer this discount if you purchased your HomeStudy from a private party.)
Please be aware that our online system will not be able to determine if purchased the HomeStudy, so you will need to register
for the seminar by calling us at 800-445-0860 so that we can verify your HomeStudy purchase and give you the discount.
|
•
Is the Seminar approved for CE credit?
Yes!
All of our respiratory courses are approved by the AARC for Continuing Education (CE) credit (between 10 and 25.5 hours, depending on the course).
Our Radiology Review is approved by the ASRT for 13 hours. Our Asthma Educator Certification Review is approved by the AARC for 10 hours. Click here
for more information on CE credits.
|
| •
What's the difference between the 3-Day and the 4-Day Comprehensive Reviews?
As far as content is concerned, there is no difference between our 3-day and 4-day reviews. The group that organizes the seminar decides how many
days the seminar will run for. In our 3-day seminar, the days usually run 30 to 60 minutes longer than in our 4-day review.
You will receive the same materials and your instructor will review all of the same concepts no matter which seminar you attend.
|
| •
Can I cancel my seminar registration after I've signed up?
Provided you notify our office, by phone or email, of your cancellation at least 7 days prior to the course, we will allow you to transfer the entire amount paid toward a HomeStudy program or future seminar.
If, however, the seminar is less than 7 days away or you prefer a refund instead of a transfer, the entire amount paid, minus the $85 non-refundable deposit, can be refunded.

Why can't I find an RRT HomeStudy in the Catalog that doesn't include the CRT (or vice versa)?
If you're wondering why you are unable to find a HomeStudy in our catalog that covers only the Written Registry and does not include the
CRT (or vice versa), it's because we have combined the materials into one Comprehensive bookset.
The reason for this is because the CRT Certification exam and the RRT Written Registry exam are now so similar in nature that it is no longer
necessary for us to have two sets of study materials. You will be tested on the same concepts for either of these exams. Individuals who use
our Comprehensive HomeStudy to prepare for the CRT will also be ready for the Written Registry exam. And for those who are already certified,
our Comprehensive materials will cover all the concepts you need to know to help you prepare for and pass the Written Registry exam.
|
| •
Can I get the HomeStudy books without the audio set?
Yes!
But we wouldn’t recommend it. You won’t actually save very much money and you will forfeit the Toll-Free Tutoring support and the money-back guarantee.
Plus, the audio provides valuable information and additional explanations for the concepts that are covered in the review manual.
|
•
Is the HomeStudy approved for CE credit?
Yes!
The Respiratory Registry, Certified and Registered Pulmonary Function, Cardiovascular, Neonatal/Pediatric and Asthma Educator HomeStudy courses are all approved by the AARC for Category 1
“Non-traditional” Continuing Education (CE) credit. ("Non-traditional" signifies those hours earned outside of a typical classroom environment.) You can earn between 10 and 32 hours, depending on the course.
Check with your state licensing board to verify acceptance of or limitations to the use of “Non-traditional” hours toward your CE requirements.
In most cases (except for the Clinical Simulation HomeStudy) you will be required to complete a Proficiency Exam to earn your CEUs, which you may obtain from our office once you have completed the HomeStudy
course. A certificate of completion is mailed to you once you pass the exam. Click here
for more information on CE credits, including how to earn CEUs for the Clinical Simulation HomeStudy.
|
| •
Can a HomeStudy be returned for a refund?
We allow returns, provided the shrink-wrap on the package contents has not been opened. However, all returns are subject to a $25 re-stocking fee.
Once the shrink-wrap is opened, returns are only allowed in the event that you fail your credentialing exam, under our 1 year money-back guarantee policy.

My Playaway® unit is not working correctly. What can I do to fix it?
Most problems can be fixed by using a new AAA battery. When replacing a battery, test your new replacement battery to make sure it has a good charge. Also, take care to orient your battery correctly. The "+" end should point toward the "EQ" button.
You should also make sure that the new battery is making good contact with the metal clips. To do so, remove the battery and slightly bend each metal clip in toward each other. Instructions for replacing the battery are located
here.
If replacing the battery doesn't correct your problem and your Playaway® is defective, we will replace it at no charge to you. Simply send the defective one back to our office and we will send you another one. Or, to receive
a replacement more quickly, you can call our office, pay a fully refundable $50 deposit with a credit card and we will ship you a new one immediately. In the package we send, we will include a UPS return label for you to ship
the defective one back to us at no charge. Once we receive the defective unit back, we will issue a $50 credit back to your card.

| Guarantee |
•
How does the Guarantee work?
All of our HomeStudy Programs are backed by a full 1-year 70% money-back Guarantee from the date of purchase. In the unlikely event that you do not pass your exam,
you have the option to return the material, cancel our assistance, and receive a refund, less 30% for processing, shipping and handling.
However, since the guarantee is good for an entire year, most people choose to keep the material and re-attempt their exam with our assistance, knowing they will still be covered
by the guarantee, provided their next attempt is within the one-year period.
The guarantee applies to the individual named on the original order only. The complete package must be returned with a notarized copy of or the original document containing your examination scores
before a refund can be issued. We must receive the package in our office within 7 days following the day you receive your failed exam results.
By keeping the material for more than 7 days following an exam failure, you have decided to continue using our help for your next exam attempt.
You also qualify for our seminar repeat rates described under the Seminars section of this page.

What are tokens?
We offer practice modules for the CRT Exam, the RRT Written Registry Exam and the Radiology Exam, as well as clinical simulation modules for the RRT Clinical Simulation Exam.
To use these practice modules, you will need to purchase tokens, which you add to an account that you create. One token allows you to complete and repeat one practice module of 15 questions
or one clinical simulation for a period of two weeks. The two-week repeater period begins once you have completed the module or simulation for which you paid a token the first time. You can continue
to re-play the module or simulation as many times as you wish during the two-week period. After the two-week period is over, if you choose to repeat a module or sim, you will be required to use
another token, at which time the two-week repeater period will begin again.
Tokens can be used for any of the modules or simulations on our site. This means, for example, that left-over tokens you purchased while you were preparing for the CRT can be used to
do practice modules or simulations for the RRT.
|
| •
Do I have to complete a module or simulation before I quit?
No.
We never want you to have to rush through a practice module or simulation, so you can stop at any point during your session. The system will remember the point at which you quit
the module or simulation. Whether you wait a day, a week, or a month to log back into the Testing Area, the system will take you right back to where you left off. Only one token
is used per module, no matter how long it takes you to complete it.
Please note: Simulations that are left unfinished for an extended period of time (usually about 6 months) are automatically cleared
from your account during our regular maintenance process. You will not lose your token. We simply felt it would be better for you to start the simulation over after so much
time has elapsed.

How do I install Adobe Flash Player to hear the module audio?
To listen to the audio explanations for our online modules within a web browser, you will need to have Adobe Flash Player 9.0 or higher installed on your computer.
If you have Flash version 9 or 10 installed, you will be able to play
the audio immediately. If your system is set up correctly, the player will appear below.
Click on the play button to hear the test message:
If the audio player does not play, appears only as a black rectangle with no controls, does not appear at all or a message is indicating that Flash was not detected, then
you will need to go to Adobe's website and install
the free Flash download. It only takes a couple of minutes to complete the installation, depending on your connection speed. Dial-up modems may take longer.
There are several versions of Flash available based on your operating system (MS
Windows or Mac) and browser type (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Netscape or
Opera). You will have to select the one that corresponds to the operating system/browser
combination you are using. Fortunately, the Adobe site will, in most cases, detect your operating
system and browser to assist you in downloading the appropriate Flash Player for
your computer. After the Flash installation is complete, the Adobe download site will probably ask you if you want
to install Adobe Media Player. Our audio only requires
Flash Player, so you do not need to install Adobe's media player.
Please note that you may need to close your browser and re-open it before the Flash installation takes effect, or you may need to reboot your computer.
Android mobile devices should already have
FlashPlayer installed, and iPad, iPhone and iPod devices do not require FlashPlayer, so you should be able to stream the audio from each of these devices.
(Unfortunately Blackberry users will probably not be able to receive our streaming audio on their mobile devices.)
|
•
Why am I unable to play or hear the audio explanations in the module?
In PC/Mac internet browsers and android mobile devices, our modules use an imbedded audio player which requires Adobe Flash
Player 9.0 or higher. To install the latest version of Flashplayer, please refer to the section
How do I install Adobe Flash Player to hear the module audio? above. iPhone, iPad and iPod devices do not need Flashplayer.
Here are some things to keep in mind if you are having a problem listening to the module audio:
- Audio session time-out. After 30 minutes of inactivity, your session with our media server will time out and you will not be able to
hear the audio. The easiest way to resolve this is to close the module,
sign out of your account, sign back in again, and then continue your module. This will start a new session and you should be able to hear the audio again.
- Audio session time-outs will also occur if you attempt to sign into your account from different browers or devices simultaneously. Only the latest
session running the modules will have access to the audio.
- Initialization failed. The most common reason for this is that you do not have the latest version of Flashplayer. See above for a link to download
the latest Flashplayer.
- If Flashplayer is installed properly, then initialization can fail because the internet connection is preventing your device from communicating with
our media server. Some institutions such as schools and hospitals have controls set up which prevent our audio from being streamed, so you'll need to check
with the administrator at your institution to see whether they allow Flash objects to be passed. If not, then you will not be able to listen to the audio
at your institution.
- If you are accessing our site over a wireless connection, you may occasionally experience audio problems where the connection simply is not fast enough
or reliable enough to maintain a connection with our media server. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it will usually show up as an initialization
error when you try to run the audio.

Why is the system telling me my username or password are incorrect when I try to sign in?
First, you can check the username and password by clicking the "Help Me Remember My Password" link on the sign-on page. We will send you a confirmation at the email address associated with your account.
If you have verified that you're entering the username and password correctly, then your internet browser may be trying to automatically sign you in using saved form information that is no
longer valid.
To prevent this, you will need to update your internet browser settings so that your browser does not automatically log you in. At a minimum, you should remove old cookies and saved form information.
We also suggest turning off the AutoComplete option to prevent this from happening in the future. Here are some steps you can follow to accomplish this in Internet Explorer versions 6 & 7:
In Internet Explorer 6, select Tools from the menu bar, then select Internet Options from the drop-down menu. On the General tab, click the "Settings" button under Temporary Internet
files, then click the "Remove Cookies" button. On the Content tab, click the "AutoComplete" button under Personal information. When the AutoComplete Settings window appears,
make sure "User name and passwords on forms" is not checked. Also click on the "Clear Forms" and "Clear Passwords" buttons to remove any saved login information.
In Internet Explorer 7, select the Tools button on the top right, then select Internet Options from the drop-down menu. On the General tab, click the "Delete..." button under
Browsing History. On the new window which appears, you can click the "Delete Cookies...", "Delete Forms..." and "Delete Passwords..." buttons to clear any saved information that may be automatically
logging you in. On the Content tab, click the "Settings" button under AutoComplete. When the AutoComplete Settings window appears, make sure "User name and passwords on forms" is
not checked to prevent your password from being saved on your system.
|
| •
Why does the number of tokens on my account appear to be incorrect?
More than likely you are logged into an account that is different from the one under which you purchased your tokens. When you first log into your account, your username is displayed
below the token count. Make sure that the username is the one you are expecting. If not, then you may have multiple accounts on our website and your internet browser is
automatically logging you into a different account.
To prevent this, you should update your internet browser settings so that your browser does not automatically log you in. You may need to turn off the AutoComplete option and/or
remove old cookies that are remembering your account information. Here are some suggestions:
In Internet Explorer 6, select Tools from the menu bar, then select Internet Options from the drop-down menu. On the General tab, click the "Settings" button under Temporary Internet
files, then click the "Remove Cookies" button. On the Content tab, click the "AutoComplete" button under Personal information. When the AutoComplete Settings window appears,
make sure "User name and passwords on forms" is not checked. You might also click on the "Clear Forms" and "Clear Passwords" buttons to remove any saved login information.

Why aren't the history frames displaying properly for my clinical simulations?
Make sure that your browser options are set to always look for newer versions of stored pages when you access a web page.
To do this in Internet Explorer 6, select Tools from the menu bar, then select Internet Options. On the General tab, click the "Settings" button under Temporary Internet files.
Make sure that the "Check for newer version of stored pages" option is set either to "Automatically" or "Every time you visit the web page".
In Internet Explorer 7,
select the Tools button on the top right, then select Internet Options from the drop-down menu. On the General tab, under Browsing History select the "Settings" button.
Make sure that the "Check for newer version of stored pages" option is set either to "Automatically" or "Every time you visit the web page".
|
| •
Why aren't the graphical images for specific questions being displayed properly in the module?
Certain graphics will not display properly using AOL or other proprietary browsers. If you are experiencing problems, try accessing our website using one of the following browsers
with which we have tested our system: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari or Netscape.
|
•
Why am I getting the error: "Sorry, you do not have permission to access this page"?
This is mostly like due to your browser being set up to not allow cookies to be saved onto your computer.
In order to run our practice modules or simulations you will need to permit temporary session cookies that will be removed once you close your browser.
These temporary cookies store information about your session which validates you as a user as you move through the module or simulation.
To fix this problem in Internet Explorer, select Tools from the menu bar, then select Internet Options. Click on the Privacy tab, then click the Advanced button and
the following window will be displayed:

At minimum, you should make sure the boxes "Override automatic cookie handling" and "Always allow session cookies" are checked, at least while doing our modules and simulations.
Note: You do not have to accept first- and third-party cookies for sessions cookies to work, as long as the session cookies box is checked.

| •
Why does my audio stutter (start and stop), making it difficult to understand?
Most likely, this is due to a slow Internet connection. This usually occurs if you are using a dial-up modem to access the Internet.
Remember that each time you connect to the Internet, you can potentially connect at a different speed, so this problem may not occur each time you connect.
One remedy is, after you click the Play button, immediately click the Pause button and wait for 10-15 seconds.
While you are waiting, the audio will continue to buffer to your
computer. After you have paused the audio for a period of time, click the Play button again and you should be able to listen to it without interruption.
You may need to experiment how long you need to pause, since this is dependent on your current connection speed.
The problem is also often fixed by simply reconnecting, since you will usually reconnect at a different speed. If the problem
persists, remember you created a login and password that is good from any computer with internet access,
so you may want to consider using a friend's computer with high-speed access, or the public library.
