Simulation

Run Simulation

  1. Please do not attempt to use your browser's History or Back buttons, or any control keys, as this will cause the simulation to work improperly.
  2. For PC users, we recommend that you maximize this window in order to view the simulation questions, options and history more easily. On PC browsers, the maximize button is located at the top right corner of the browser window, just to the left of the Close (X) button. Even when the window is maximized, there may still be times when part of the descriptive information or some of the available choices are hidden from view. A scroll bar will appear on the right side of any panel where there is too much information or too many choices to be displayed on the screen at one time. Use the scroll bar to display anything that is hidden.
  3. The window is divided into 4 panels (on certain browsers or devices you may need to scroll vertically in order to see all the data in a panel):
    • Top: displays the scenarios, questions, graphs, images and directives for the section
    • Left: lists the options available for you to select
    • Right: displays the responses for the choices you have made
    • Bottom: provides a means to navigate to the next section when you are finished making multiple selections
  4. Begin each simulation section by reading the information at the top of the screen carefully and then following the directions to either:
    • CHOOSE ONLY ONE unless you are directed to make another selection in this section
    • SELECT AS MANY as you consider indicated in this section
  5. To make your selections, click the check box to the left of the appropriate option(s) displayed in the left panel of the screen or anywhere on the option text. Each option you select will appear with a response in the right-hand panel. As you continue to select more options, the older information may scroll off the screen but can be viewed by using the scrollbar on the right-hand side of the panel.
  6. You may view all of your selections and responses for each of the sections you've completed by clicking the Simulation History button at the top of the right-hand panel. Click the Current Section button if you want to see only responses for the section you are currently working on.
  7. If the section you are working in is identified as SELECT AS MANY, once you have made ALL of the appropriate choices, you can move to the next section of the simulation by clicking on the NEXT SECTION button located in the bottom left corner of the screen. On some devices you may need to scroll down to see this button.
  8. When working in a CHOOSE ONLY ONE section, making a selection will bring up a box that will display a response to your selection and instruct you to either Make another selection in this Section or Proceed to the next Section.
  9. Each option that you select will allow you to earn either positive (+) or negative (-) points. A final score for both Information Gathering and Decision Making sections will be provided at the end of the simulation.
  10. After completing the simulation and reviewing your scores, the system will step you through a review of the entire clinical simulation.  For each section, the appropriate options will be displayed in Green and incorrect options will be displayed in Red.  Options you selected will be checked in the left panel, and also displayed with their responses in the right panel.  An audio link, located at the bottom left, will provide an explanation for the appropriate options of each section.  Click the Play arrow to listen. Finally, click the Go To Next Section button to continue to the next section.

To begin the simulation, click the Start Simulation button located below.
