Practice Portal Respiratory Therapy Exam Back to Exam Types

The Respiratory Therapy Exam is comprised of two types of questions – Breadth of Knowledge and Depth of Clinical Judgment. Practice is provided for both question types.

If you plan on taking the legacy TMC exam, use the Breadth of Knowledge area to prepare for your exam. If you plan to sit for the legacy CSE, use the Depth of Clinical Judgment area to prepare for your exam.

Breadth of Knowledge

This area has a bank of multiple-choice questions that will test your overall knowledge across various areas of respiratory care. Questions are categoried into key competencies, such as airway care, patient assessment and mechanical ventilation. There will be 100 breadth of knowledge questions on the RTE.

Depth of Clinical Judgment

In this area you will be presented with patient scenarios that will test your decision-making and critical-thinking skills. With each sim, a series of related multiple-choise questions will be presented, like those that will appear on the exam. Your exam will be comprised of 60 depth of clinical judgement questions.
